Case study

Paper

Our Client:

A client in the paper industry wanted to optimise their logistics for their manufactured and trading cargo. While their mills were based in Europe, most of their clients were based in and around Asia. Hence, the client was looking at more efficient ways to ship their cargo within a shorter time frame even as they kept a keen eye on the budget.

What We Did:

  • Proposed to make Malaysia their hub for goods inbound from Europe, for distribution to the rest of Asia
  • Equipped our bonded warehouse in Port Klang, Malaysia with special clamps to handle paper and paper rolls.

Results:

Leveraging on Malaysia’s strategic geographical position within South East Asia, and our strong freight rates, we managed to improve the overall customer experience with shorter transit times and increased sailing options with more than 12 shipping lines sailing out of Port Klang to the various destinations. With ready stock closer to their customers, this greatly improved the customer experience from our client and accelerated their market penetration.

Using similar strategies to serve customers in other key markets, we are growing happily together with the customer as we work hand in hand to expand their market reach.

Automotive

Our Client:

A local automotive assembly plant needed to bring in their robotic processes and place the modules in pre-marked locations on the factory floor. As this was the first time importing the process, they required advice on the tariff codes as well as a plan to overcome the challenge of the factory being in a remote location and a front gate which was smaller than some of the processes being brought in. The client wanted a solution whereby they could avoid having to enlarge the entrance just to accommodate the final positioning of the machines.

What We Did:

  • Consulted with the customer on the type of machinery being imported and worked out the accurate tariff code for the customs clearance.
  • Organised a site survey together with the customer to measure & plan the entry of the processes according to the measurements of the doorway and the surrounding area
  • Assisted the client with the customs clearance with Free Trade Agreement (FTA) documents
  • Planned the transport of the robotic processes from the port using a combination of multi-axle vehicles and trucks
  • Coordinated the arrival of the cargo together with the lifting equipment required and the engineers who were to give us instructions for the final positioning

Results:

The consultation on the tariff code coupled with the site survey was the key to the success of the smooth delivery; knowing the terrain and the limitations we had to work with paved the way for us to pin down the finer details of timing, clearance, and delivery. As the conversations with the client gave us clarity, it gave them the assurance that they had chosen a good working partner for this complex job.
